F15 BMW X5 Navigation Retrofit

This client has a F15 BMW X5 with NBT. The original owner did not option it with navigation, so when my client asked the BMW dealer how much this would cost to retrofit, they came back with an absurdly high price despite all the necessary hardware being installed from the factory. Here's how the client and I did it for less.

We needed to obtain FSC enable codes which allow the navigation to work. This was accomplished with the help of an online vendor who provided a file that, when loaded onto a USB drive and connected to the car, enabled all FSC codes.

We then had to add navigation to the vehicle's VO/FA (a digital list of options and equipment that informs the behaviour of modules) and remove navigation preparation from it. This was accomplished with E-SYS, which added navigation to the menu, however it still had no maps.

To add the maps, I downloaded and extracted the files to a USB drive, then extracted the DE file from the NBT module and used it to generate a FSC map upgrade code, I then connected the drive to the car, entered the upgrade code and waited for the upgrade to finish. The result was a fully functional navigation system for a fraction of what BMW wanted to charge.
